LORD, we ask you to bless and protect our Frst Responders, our Police, our Firemen, and our Ems as they face the daily challenges and danger doing their daily lifesaving tasks.  Send your Guardian Angels to look over them and give them the skills to protect and save lives then bring them home safely. AMEN

Welcome to your Blanco County Concerned website!  This website purpose is to increase voter interest and combat voter apathy in this county.  We want to urge people to voice their concerns loud and clear.  It is also our goal to encourage individuals to run for public office in our county and not be afraid or discouraged to do so.  Issues of great concern in our county need to be brought out for debate and we should have choices of canidates at election time in all races.

Politics and the average voter......

voters2Question the average voter on his opinion of politics and his answer most likely will be that all politicians are “self” motivated with ultra egos and really do not have the best interest of the public at heart.  Some even go as far to think politicians are downright crooked!   A large majority of registered voters think the only alternative is to let matters go as they are and stay at home on Election Day thinking what does my one vote do.  While we do rarely find a "bad apple" in government and it usually over shawdows the majority that is working for us!  Hence, voter apathy sets in!

The “Middle American” has been the building block of America.  He has worked for it, paid for it, fought and died for it.  Yet on Election Day he would rather go fishing than go to the polls and vote.  Yes, the Middle American, the average voter, the silent majority doesn’t feel it will do any good to vote.  As a result, low voter turn out is the result in most elections, especially local elections.  Complacency in our government sets in, what a crying Shame!

We as Americans and Texans have seen corruption in all levels of our government.  This corruption is what can and does happen to our political machinery when the citizen fails to register and vote in PRIMARY elections.  You see it is the primary that keeps the political machine oiled and primed and kept in perfect running condition.  The “Man In Power” knows whom he can depend on to show up at the polls.  People showing up at the polls and voting in mass can defeat the political machinery in the PRIMARY election.  As a result the machinery looses its strength and falters.  The foundation of which corrupt government is constructed is when the majority of registered voters fail to vote.  Anytime you see corruption in government you can trace it to a light voter turn out in the PRIMARIES and lack of citizen participation in government.

The longer a politician is in office the more complacent and selfish he gets with the taxpayers money.  They begin to think and act as if it were theirs.  What the average citizen and small business is able to accumulate has been gradually whittled away by governments tax and spend policy.  This stands true in all levels of government.  Look and you will find "political pet" spending.  This is why new opposing candidates should debate the issues critical in all elections.

The primaries and the general election are over and the politicians are getting all settled in.  The political machinery, due to low voter turn out locally, was oiled very well.  It is running as smoothly as a clock.  The process will start again next year and you can make a difference by registering to vote and go vote when the time comes.  Urge and financially support qualified people to run for office and speak out!   Until that time, make your voice heard!  When you oppose any issue, call and write  or simply “rattle the cages” of the people who represent you in government.  Go and attend your city and county governmental meetings.  You might be surprised at what you hear!

BLANCO COUNTY is a wonderful place to live. Our neighbors are GOD LOVING people. Our surrounding areas are beautiful, historical and the rural atmosphere is loved. Quiet peaceful living is the rule of thumb here and visitors travel from all around just to get a glimpse of the wonders we all share here.

Like other counties we too have our share of problems that are unique to this area. As laid back as we are, when the actions of our public officials are questioned publicly it tends to create waves and discomfort among us. Some confuse debate with what they call "mud slinging" or "sour grapes." Some of our public officials don't want the citizens to know the truth about what they do or do not do. We as a community have historically adapted to complacency and are either afraid to say anything or simply do not want to take a risk in making a much needed change. As a result, we the voters have no one to blame but ourselves for the "good ole boy" arrogance that we have in our local government. It is our intent here to give you a forum to voice your concerns and to help you to be more aware of some of the much needed changes in our local government so that we can work together to get these changes accomplished.

We support our Law Enforcement Officers, Firemen, and EMS volunteers and it is important that our prayers go out to each of them everyday. This web site, may seem very critical of some agencies, particularly the Blanco County Sheriffs Department, which has the largest budget in the county, well OVER A MILLION DOLLARS. The sheriffs department has some qualified and dedicated officers who are ready and willing to do their jobs but are hesitant to do so because of the don't-make-waves "non enforcement" attitude of their leadership. To do their job right and enforce the law (which they take an oath to do) would cost them their job and they know it.

As a caring and concerned community, we should stick together. By uniting and sticking together we will carry a stronger voice to the voting booth. Come Election Day we can make a difference.

Check out this web site that has been developed in YOUR honor. Make it YOUR voice. BLOG YOUR CONCERNS, and together we will make a difference!

This web site is developed and produced by a group of concerned citizens in Blanco County. While we disagree with some of our officials on their policy and actions let us never forget to pray for them to receive Gods direction and blessings. Should you wish to join our movement go to the contact page and email us.
